Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in supervising staff, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This position is used to foster external development for the Store Manager role and is held for a limited period.

The role includes recruiting support, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well-organized store environment with opening/closing duties and adherence to company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit and staff and manage basic store operations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close store operations as needed.
• Ensure cash deposits and cashier accountability procedures are followed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, well-stocked store environment.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
