Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a qualified retail leader to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day store operations across multiple departments. You will mentor and coach team members, drive customer service, and manage staffing and promotions to sustain store performance.

The role emphasizes achieving sales, controlling shrink, and maintaining brand standards, with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation. A hands-on, customer-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store including meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, resolve conflicts, manage multiple tasks, analyze financial and statistical information, and teach suggestive selling.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs, and being involved with promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet customer service and sales goals.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure training of team members across all job areas and completion of required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promotes a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance is required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
