Job summary

Dollar General seeks an experienced Store Manager in LaGrange, GA to lead daily operations, staffing, merchandising and customer service. You will oversee ordering, inventory, and safety compliance while driving sales and profitability in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will recruit, train and evaluate staff, enforce company policies, and ensure accurate cash handling and reporting. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math including percentages and cash handling.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register to generate reports.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Excellent organization and problem-solving abilities; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees; ensure staffing levels per policy.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and address gaps with coaching or termination as needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement opportunities.
• Communicate expectations; organize meetings to reinforce safety and policies.
• Ensure proper staffing and opening/closing of the store every day.
• Personally open/close the store at least twice weekly as required.
• Analyze operating statements for trends, expenses, shrinkage and errors.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets; oversee BSR and cycle counts weekly.
• Coordinate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per SOPs.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing and signage compliance.
• Maintain accurate inventory, control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Safeguard financial integrity via cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and a clean, safe store environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available to perform tasks.
• Follow SOPs, policies, and deadlines; complete all required paperwork.
