Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to oversee daily operations, staffing, and customer service to ensure a clean, well-organized store that meets safety and policy standards.

You will recruit and train staff, manage inventory, monitor sales and shrink, and ensure proper cash handling and security procedures while delivering the company’s values and excellent service to customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of retail management experience preferred.
• Ability to read/interpret documents and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of cash handling and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations and counsel as needed.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Open/close the store as needed, at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements for sales, profitability and shrink.
• Review ordering and inventory management to meet in-stock targets.
• Staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing and signage are correct.
• Maintain accurate inventory and cash control procedures.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe store environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available for tasks.
• Follow SOPs and deadlines.
