Job summary

Dollar Tree, Inc. in Iowa City is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will assist with store functions, help customers, and organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor, ensuring seasonal areas are maintained. The role includes opening/closing procedures, processing directives, maintaining fixtures, payroll/scheduling, cash deposits, and loss prevention, while keeping a well-stocked, clean store.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a retail or grocery team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Proven ability to supervise and develop store staff.
• Detail-oriented with cash handling and loss prevention awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and colleagues.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
