Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in operations, staffing, inventory, and store needs. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory, and daily store activities, while upholding company procedures and cash controls. This position requires physical tasks and potential travel between stores.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking; ensure proper presentation per guidelines.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and receiving.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
