Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store operations, including staffing, training, ordering, receiving, stocking, and presentation, while ensuring excellent customer service and cash control.

You will recruit and retain staff, evaluate performance, enforce safety standards, monitor sales and inventory, and adhere to company policies. High school diploma and retail management experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and operate basic store systems.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and company policy; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides training; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for solutions or counseling.
• Provides input on pay rate and advancement opportunities.
• Communicates expectations; conducts meetings to ensure safety and policy adherence.
• Ensures store opens/closes as required; maintains proper staffing.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify trends and opportunities, including shrink and expenses.
• Manages ordering plans to meet in-stock targets; reviews BSR/cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitates stocking and storage following company processes; maintains proper merchandising presentation.
• Maintains inventory levels; controls damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensures cashier accountability and cash-control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership; maintains a clean, safe store environment.
