Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager's direction, you will supervise employees, manage merchandise, complete paperwork, and help protect assets while maximizing profitability.

The role includes stocking, cashier duties, scheduling, training, and ensuring safety and policy compliance. This position reports to store leadership and supports store operations in the manager's absence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment.
• Six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to operate cash register and scanner.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise processes: receiving, stocking, displaying, planograms.
• Maintain accurate inventory and control damages, markdowns, and deposits.
• Ensure financial integrity including refunds, cash handling and deposits.
• Cover store management in Store Manager's absence.
