Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Cashier/Stocker with lead responsibilities in the absence of Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. You will assist in maintaining plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, greet customers, and manage checkout operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will unload trucks, stock shelves, and ensure a clean, safe store environment while following company procedures and protecting assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and plan-o-gram reading.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety policies and store procedures.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock and rotate merchandise; build displays.
• Restock returned merchandise and manage shelf replenishment.
• Operate cash register, total purchases, and bag items.
• Authorize refunds/overrides and maintain cashier accountability when managers are absent.
