Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Manager on Duty to oversee the Food Department and store operations. You will ensure efficient inventory management, attractive merchandise presentation, and high-quality customer service while maintaining a safe work environment and protecting company assets.

Responsibilities include managing refunds/overrides, cash accountability, scheduling, staff training, and adherence to food handling regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Food Department and store operations as Manager on Duty.
• Oversee cash handling, refunds, overrides, and deposit routines.
• Ensure staff training and development of employees.
• Assist in scheduling coverage and training programs.
• Ensure proper stocking, rotation, and merchandising standards.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and minimize damages and markdowns.
• Direct unloading of trucks and organization of new merchandise.
• Ensure safety and customer service standards are met.
