Job summary

Virginia Military Institute is seeking a part-time Store and Warehouse Clerk to support inventory, stocking, and garment tagging in the VMI Human Resources Office.

The role involves unpacking deliveries, keeping stock in order, and assisting cadets with uniform items while complying with inventory procedures and basic math.

Qualifications

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs to stock shelves and move inventory as needed.
• Knowledge of cash register/credit card operations and basic math.
• Experience with MS Windows including Excel, Word and Access.

Responsibilities

• Unpack and check quantities against purchase orders/invoices.
• Place stock in proper locations and keep it orderly.
• Move inventory and stock as required, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Assist with inventory procedures and basic counting.
• Assist with check-in and record all uniform items for cadets.
• Size and tag garments returned to stock and return to proper area.

Job Duties

• Unpack and check quantities against purchase order/invoices.
• Place stock in proper locations and kept in order.
• Ability to physically lift merchandise (up to 50lbs) to stock shelves and move inventory as needed.
• Inventory procedures & basic mathematics desired.
• Assist with check in and record all uniform items from departing, Foreign Study and graduating cadets.
• Accurately size and tag garments to be returned to stock as prescribed for the item(s) and return to proper area.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to physically lift merchandise (up to 50lbs) to stock shelves and move inventory as needed, walking, climbing stairs and standing for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of cash register/credit card operations, inventory procedures & basic mathematics.
• Experience in MS Windows – Excel, Word, Access.
• Customer service interaction

Additional Considerations

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Motor Vehicle driver's license required.
