Responsibilities

  • Provide administration, installation, operation, and maintenance support on NOSC networks and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor security posture, STIG compliance, patching, and vulnerability mitigation across NOSC devices.
  • Execute remediation actions to ensure STIG compliance and end‑point protection.
  • Maintain server room and cable management.
  • Engineer and maintain NOSC network architecture and diagrams.
  • Monitor NOSC network status and remediate outages as needed.
  • Coordinate ASIs and manage NOSC spare parts and components.
  • Perform data backup and recovery for servers and applications.
  • Respond to tickets and incidents per NOSC policies.
  • Provide desktop/client support for NOSC networks including imaging and troubleshooting.
  • Manage cloud mail accounts and user access.
  • Coordinate with equipment custodian for inventories and disposition per guidelines.
  • Configure encryption devices and perform touch maintenance.
  • Participate in new technology rollouts on NOSC domain.

SMS is hiring Storage & Virtualization Engineers to support our AFCENT NOSC contract at Shaw AFB. AFCENT's mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. We support the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command‑and‑control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program is focused on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, keeping the AFCENT's theater communications and IT infrastructure ready, secure, and available to effectively execute the AFCENT mission.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide administration, installation, operation, and maintenance support on applications, systems, and infrastructure equipment supporting all the NOSC networks.
  • Monitor the security posture (STIG compliance, patching, vulnerability mitigation, and end‑point protection compliancy) of the NOSC networks devices and systems.
  • Execute remediation actions to ensure proper STIG compliance, patching, vulnerability mitigation and end‑point protection compliancy of NOSC networks devices and systems.
  • Maintain server room including enforcing and monitoring equipment installations, proper cable maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • Engineer and maintain network layer architecture and systems design to include architecture diagrams and rack elevation drawings.
  • Monitor NOSC network and systems status using NOSC standard network management platforms and remediate outages and events, as required.
  • Coordinate ASIs for any scheduled maintenance and maintain updates of all spare parts and components of the NOSC domain.
  • Conduct and monitor data backup and recovery for servers and applications.
  • Respond and resolve tickets and incidents in accordance with local NOSC policies and procedures.
  • Provide desktop/client support for NOSC networks to include desktop imaging, hardware/software troubleshooting, and peripheral installation and support.
  • Create and maintain standard and elevated user accounts to include cloud mail accounts.
  • Coordinate with and assist equipment custodian to complete equipment inventories, prepare equipment for disposition and disposal via DLA and DRMO procedures and guidelines.
  • Control, safeguard, configure, and provide touch maintenance of encryption devices.
  • Participate in new technology rollouts on the NOSC domain/networks.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates in related field and 3 or more years' relevant experience; Or, 5 or more years' relevant experience
  • Firewall experience
  • Conduct framing of pleadings to properly identify alleged violations of law, regulations, or policy/guidance.
Certifications Required
  • Unix/Linux certified
  • CompTIA Network +CE or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • VMWare Certification / VCTA
ITIL Foundation
  • ITIL Foundation – Candidate has up to 60 days to acquire ITIL Foundation certification
Clearance Required
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
