Job summary

SMS Data Products Group, Inc. seeks a Campus-Data Center Network Architect to support the AFCENT NOSC contract at Shaw AFB in SC. The role focuses on designing and engineering campus datacenter architectures and maintaining network infrastructure across LAN/WAN environments.

You will work with routing protocols (OSPF/EIGRP/BGP/MPLS), 802.1x, and WLAN designs, delivering reports and performance analyses while supporting general IT management tasks at the site.

Qualifications

• B.S. in a related field plus 5+ years IT experience (or 7+ years).
• Experience with Microsoft server installation, Active Directory, storage, performance management.
• CCNP, VCTA, and ITIL Foundation certifications; ability to obtain ITIL within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer campus/datacenter architecture for a military facility.
• Configure, design, and maintain datacenter networking equipment.
• Understand IP concepts, including routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS), VLANs, QoS, and capacity planning.
• Ensure 802.1x authentication is implemented and maintained.
• Leverage wireless LAN expertise to design campus networks with seamless roaming.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and engineer campus/datacenter architecture.
• Configure, design, and maintain datacenter network architecture equipment.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of IP concepts, including implementing routing, VLAN's, QoS, tuning, and capacity management concepts.
• Be proficient in routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS.
• Maintain a Strong understanding of 802.1x.
• Use extensive Wireless LAN background to design campus network architectures to provide proper coverage and support the ability for users to seamlessly move between WLAN access nodes without disconnection or other interruptions in service using appropriate and relevant networking protocols.
• Analyze a myriad of networking metrics and recognize sub-par network performance.
• Develop reports and trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents.
• Provide General IT Management support.
• Provide General Networking support.
• Provide LAN support.
• Provide WAN Enterprise support.
• Provide technical and general O&M support as required.
• Provide documentation/reports support as required.
• Provide meetings/briefings support as required.
• Provide functional training support as required.
• Provide OCONUS deployment/TDY travel support as required.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in a related field and 5 or more years’ relevant IT experience or 7 or more years’ relevant IT experience.
• Knowledge of what constitutes a “threat” to a network.
• Skill in providing feedback to enhance future collection and analysis.
• Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft server installation, roles, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
