Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an experienced IT Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage infrastructure across high-performance tiers. The role focuses on supporting simulation, telemetry, and test data processing with NetApp, Pure, and Vast storage systems in an on‑premises environment.

Candidates should have experience with NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe over TCP, plus automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related STEM field and 3+ years IT storage engineering experience; or 5+ years without a degree.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, NVMe over TCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain storage infrastructure across multiple tiers.
• Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage for simulation and telemetry workloads.
• Administer NetApp, Pure, Vast, and HPE Alletra storage systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, RDMA, and protocol layers.
• Develop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, and alerting.
• Define standards for storage deployment and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams on storage strategy.
