Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an experienced IT Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain high-performance storage infrastructure that supports simulation, telemetry, and test data processing.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with Pure Storage, NetApp, Vast, and HPE Alletra in on-premises environments, plus strong automation skills with Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.

This role requires collaboration with compute, networking, and application teams and may include on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe over TCP.
• Experience with automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex designs clearly.
• Experience collaborating with virtualization teams and infra engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain storage infrastructure across multiple tiers.
• Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage for exabyte-scale workloads.
• Administer NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, Vast, and HPE Alletra.
• Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, RDMA, and protocols.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across protocols and operating systems.
• Develop automation for monitoring, capacity planning, configuration, and alerting.
• Define and enforce storage deployment standards and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance, on-call rotation, and occasional hardware installation.
