Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an IT Storage Engineer to design, implement, and manage enterprise storage infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads such as simulation, telemetry, and test data processing.

The role requires hands-on experience with NetApp, Pure Storage, and Vast in an on-premises environment, plus strong knowledge of NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and NVMe over TCP. You will contribute to architecture, automation, and availability across multiple storage tiers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional IT storage engineering with degree or 5+ years without a degree.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe over TCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain storage infrastructure across multiple tiers (high-performance, capacity, archive, backup/recovery, DR).
• Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage for exabyte-scale file systems and high-concurrency workloads.
• Administer NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, Vast, and HPE Alletra.
• Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, RDMA transport, and protocol layers.
• Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams to align storage with workloads.
• Develop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, and configuration management.
• Participate in maintenance, on-call rotation, and occasional hardware installations.
