Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an IT Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage infrastructure across multiple tiers in an on‑premises environment. The role focuses on high-performance, low-latency storage for simulation, telemetry, and test data processing, with hands‑on work on NetApp, Pure, Vast, and HPE Alletra systems.

You will monitor performance, troubleshoot cross‑protocol issues, and develop automation for monitoring, capacity planning, and configuration management,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or another STEM discipline, or 3+ years of storage engineering experience.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, NVMe over TCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain storage infrastructure across multiple tiers including backup/recovery and DR.
• Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage for simulation and telemetry workloads.
• Administer storage systems spanning NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, Vast, and HPE Alletra.
• Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving multiple protocols and operating systems.
• Manage storage access, permissions, and controls across protocols and OS.
• Develop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, and alerting.
• Define standards for deployment, performance tuning, and operations.
• Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams to align storage with workloads.
• Participate in maintenance, on-call rotation, and occasional hardware installation.
