Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an experienced IT Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads such as simulation and telemetry. The role requires hands-on work with Pure, NetApp, Vast, and HPE Alletra in an on-premises environment.

The ideal candidate will manage high-throughput storage systems, troubleshoot across hardware, software, and protocol layers, and develop automation for monitoring, capacity planning, and alerting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 3+ years of IT storage experience; or 5+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, NVMe over TCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain multi-tier storage infrastructure.
• Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage for mission-critical workloads.
• Administer NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, Vast, and HPE Alletra.
• Monitor performance across hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across protocols and OS interactions.
• Develop automation for monitoring, capacity planning, and alerting.
• Define standards for deployment, tuning, and operational management.
• Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams.
• Participate in maintenance, on-call rotations, and occasional hardware installs.
