Job summary

The Ohio Veterans Homes in Georgetown, part of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, seeks a Therapeutic Program Worker to provide daily living assistance to residents at the Southern Ohio Veteran's Home. This full-time role offers competitive pay and generous benefits.

Starting pay is $23.28 per hour, with raises to $23.65, plus $500 bonuses after 120 days and after one year, and tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 annually. Shift options include 3pm-11:30pm and 11pm-7:30am.

Qualifications

• STNA certification and/or listed on Ohio Nurse Aide Registry.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with eating, bathing, toileting and daily living activities.
• Transport and accompany residents to activities and programs.
• Complete daily, monthly and required documentation.
• Observe changes in symptoms or behavior and report to charge nurse.
• Perform light housekeeping in living areas.

The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky. THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM WORKER

• Starting Hourly Pay: $23.28 per hour
• 1st Raise in 6 Months: increase to $23.65 per hour
• $500 bonus after 120 days and another $500 bonus after one year
• Multiple pay increases over your first 5 years of service, with an end salary of $26.54 per hour
• Shift differential pay for 2nd & 3rd shift
• Longevity increases start at your fifth year and grows as long as you stay with the State of Ohio

What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do at the Veterans Homes?

A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, assist with feeding.
• Transport and attends activities or programs with residents
• Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation
• Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse
• Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas
• Applies safety & infection control measures
• Assists with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
• Assist nursing personnel with admissions, discharge, & transfer of residents

Qualifications

• In positions at Veteran Services in addition to above must possess STNA certification &/or listed on Ohio Nurse Aide Registry.
• No experience required

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
