Job summary

Ohio Department of Veterans Services is seeking an experienced nurse leader for the Veterans Home in Sandusky. You will oversee nursing staff and clinical operations, ensuring QA, policies, and procedures are implemented effectively.

The role requires significant supervisory experience in psychiatric or developmental disability care, with a strong focus on patient safety and quality metrics. On-site leadership and collaboration with multiple disciplines are essential.

Qualifications

  • Current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio.
  • 36 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in nursing.
  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in supervision.
  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in management.
  • 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in counseling.
  • 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in public relations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, implementation & monitoring of quality assurance programs, development & implementation of nursing policies & procedures, serves as liaison between nursing/medical services & other disciplines.
  • Assumes leadership of nursing personnel (RN, LPN, STNAs & support personnel) on designated nursing unit.
  • Prepares for on-site clinical & operational audits & annual surveys as well as assisting with development & monitoring of quality improvement projects & clinical metrics.
  • Develops, implements, & evaluates the agency’s Wound Care Program.
  • Acts as resource person to department heads/supervisors and the agency.
  • Leads the investigating, tracking, & reporting sentinel events & adverse events.
  • All other duties as assigned

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 36 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; completion of undergraduate core program in nursing; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in supervision; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in management; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in counseling; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in public relations.

  • Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.
