Job summary

Ace Hardware of Newport seeks a STIHL Service Technician to maintain and repair STIHL units sold in-store. The role demands diagnostic accuracy, customer communication, and proficiency in parts lookup and warranty claims.

You will advance STIHL certifications and contribute to a high-quality customer experience. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairs of engines and systems, inventory management, and assisting store customers in the Outdoor Power Equipment Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• STIHL Bronze/Silver/Gold certification required (through STIHL training).
• Excellent customer service and ability to assist customers in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment to identify problems and determine solutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as lubrication and fluid checks.
• Inspect equipment for defects to ensure safety and quality.
• Inspect and repair ignition, fuel, cooling, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain inventory of parts and tools for repairs.
• Install new equipment and repair existing units.
• Repair small engines (chainsaws, trimmers, blowers) and related equipment.
• Diagnose issues by testing components on-site and document findings.
• Explain repair procedures to customers and file warranty claims as needed.
