Position Title: Stewarding Supervisor
Job Summary
The Stewarding Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the stewarding department, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all kitchen, dishwashing, and food service areas. This role supervises stewarding staff, maintains health and safety standards, manages inventory of cleaning supplies, and supports food and beverage operations by ensuring all equipment, utensils, and work areas are maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of stewards and dishwashing personnel.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans are cleaned and sanitized according to company and regulatory standards.
- Monitor dishwashing operations to ensure efficiency and adequate supply of clean equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen, storage, and service areas.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
- Schedule, assign, and oversee stewarding staff duties.
- Train employees on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and proper equipment use.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and evaluating stewarding team members.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
- Order and maintain adequate stock to support operations.
- Report and coordinate repairs or replacement of damaged equipment.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HACCP, local health department, and company standards.
- Investigate and document accidents or incidents within the department.
- Promote a culture of safety and cleanliness among staff.
- Maintain records related to cleaning schedules, inspections, and inventory.
- Prepare reports on staffing, productivity, and operational issues.
- Collaborate with culinary and food & beverage management teams to support service needs.
- Assist with budgeting and cost-control initiatives within the stewarding department.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of sanitation standards, food safety regulations, and cleaning procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot, wet, and fast‑paced environments.
- Capable of bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling as needed.
