Hyatt Regency Houston in downtown Houston is seeking a Stewarding Lead to maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and stewarding areas while leading the stewarding team. You will ensure proper cleaning, sanitation, and safety standards, and collaborate with Culinary and Banquet teams for service readiness.

The role supports banquet operations and upholds Hyatt's culture of care. Strong leadership and hospitality experience are preferred, with a flexible schedule including mornings,

Qualifications

• Prior stewarding or hospitality experience preferred.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication with guests and colleagues.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work flexible schedule including mornings/evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support stewarding colleagues to maintain cleanliness and organization throughout kitchen, dishwashing, storage, and food preparation areas.
• Oversee cleaning, sanitizing, and proper storage of dishes and equipment.
• Assign daily tasks and provide guidance to stewarding colleagues for efficiency and Hyatt standards.
• Coordinate with Culinary and Banquet teams to ensure supplies are ready for service and events.
• Monitor operations for sanitation, safety, and compliance.
• Assist with training on cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and safe practices.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and communicate replenishment needs.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and maintain clean work areas.
• Identify and report maintenance and safety concerns promptly.
• Support banquet setup/breakdown and post-event cleanup.
• Promote Hyatt's Culture of Care through teamwork and attention to detail.

The Stewarding Lead is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all kitchen, dishwashing, and stewarding areas while providing day-to-day leadership and support to the stewarding team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the proper cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen equipment, utensils, dishware, glassware, and food preparation areas while supporting efficient culinary and banquet operations. The Stewarding Lead works closely with Food & Beverage, Culinary, and Banquet teams to ensure operational readiness, uphold sanitation standards, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support stewarding colleagues in maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout kitchen, dishwashing, storage, and food preparation areas
• Oversee the cleaning, sanitizing, and proper storage of dishes, glassware, flatware, cookware, and kitchen equipment
• Assign daily tasks and provide guidance to stewarding colleagues to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to Hyatt standards
• Coordinate with Culinary and Banquet teams to ensure dishware, glassware, utensils, equipment, and supplies are available and ready for service and special events
• Monitor stewarding operations to ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards
• Assist with training colleagues on cleaning procedures, chemical handling, equipment use, and safe work practices
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment and communicate replenishment needs
• Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices while maintaining clean and clutter-free work areas
• Identify and report maintenance, sanitation, and safety concerns in a timely manner
• Support banquet setup and breakdown needs and assist with post-event cleanup operations
• Promote Hyatt's Culture of Care through teamwork, professionalism, and attention to detail

Qualifications

• Prior stewarding, kitchen, food and beverage, or hospitality experience preferred
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Self-starting personality with a professional demeanor and positive attitude
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and leadership
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Must be willing to pitch in and assist coworkers with operational needs
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate to heavy amount of weight, minimum of 50 pounds
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires
