The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Stewarding Department, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and organization throughout all Food & Beverage and back-of-house areas. This role supervises and supports stewarding colleagues, maintains operational efficiency, and serves as a key partner to Culinary, Banquets, and Food & Beverage teams to ensure exceptional service execution.
This person provides leadership through training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management while ensuring compliance with all hotel policies, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards. This position also maintains inventory of china, silverware, cookware, equipment, chemicals, and supplies, while supporting banquet and event operations. Supervisors are expected to demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills while supporting departmental goals. This department has colleagues that work during every hour of the day. This Supervisor must be available to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays, and at any time including overnight.
The hourly pay rate for this position is $26.00 per hour.
Additional Key Responsibilities Include
- Supervise and coordinate stewarding staff to ensure all kitchens, back-of-house areas, dishwashing, and equipment storage spaces are clean, safe, and organized.
- Train, coach, and motivate team members to achieve departmental goals while maintaining Hyatt’s service and hospitality standards.
- Oversee proper usage and care of all dishwashing machines, cleaning chemicals, and stewarding equipment.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding tools, and assist with ordering as needed.
- Work closely with the culinary and banquet teams to ensure seamless support during service, including banquet set-up and breakdown.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards as outlined by the hotel and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in scheduling, assigning tasks, and monitoring team performance to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain effective communication with team members and other hotel departments.
- Support in managing breakage, loss, supply consumption, equipment usage, and cost-control measures within the stewarding department.
- Handle guest or internal concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues to leadership when necessary.
- Review timecards, process payroll edits, and maintain accurate departmental records.
- Oversee the proper operation, maintenance, and care of dishwashing machines, cleaning equipment, and stewarding tools.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals and sanitation products in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Utilize Hyatt computer systems to manage work orders, communication, and operational tasks.
- Address guest, colleague, and operational concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and commitment to service excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in Stewarding, Food & Beverage, Culinary Operations, or Hospitality preferred.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and team-development skills.
- Knowledge of sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Experience supporting banquet and large-scale event operations preferred.
- Proficiency with hotel systems and technology platforms and the ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull moderate weights and remain on feet for extended periods.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to comprehend budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports to assist in the financial management of the department.
