Job summary

The Edgewater in Madison, WI is seeking a dedicated steward to support the Culinary and Food & Beverage teams in loading dock, central warehouse, and office areas. You’ll help receive, store, and distribute inventory while keeping equipment clean and ready for use.

Strong communication with vendors and team members is essential, as is the ability to lift up to 70 pounds and stand for long periods. Full-time staff receive comprehensive benefits and discounts at onsite amenities.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or culinary experience preferred.
• Proficient with computers and email communication with vendors and department leads.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of loading dock, central warehouse, and office areas.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and distributing inventory to departments as needed.
• Ensure all culinary and beverage equipment is clean, organized, and operational.
• Support kitchen and banquet teams by preparing and transporting items as required.
• Communicate effectively with vendors and delivery personnel.
• Assist with waste management, recycling, and sanitation practices.
• Follow all hotel safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Culinary department.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a full-service, professional hotel environment. Stewards regularly use dollies and flat carts to distribute products to all departments. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands/fingers to handle objects.
• Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Frequent lifting of objects up to 10 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
