Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Sterilizing Tech II to support our sterile processing. You will disassemble, clean, sterilize, and assemble instrument trays and supplies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with infection control standards.

You’ll dispense sterile items to operating rooms and maintain inventory while contributing to a collaborative hospital environment. The role requires 1 year of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and an accredited Sterile

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in sterile processing or related field.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Sterile Processing certification through an accredited body.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, cleans, assembles, sterilizes, and stores trays, instruments, equipment and supplies per procedures.
• Completes requests to dispense supplies to Operating Rooms and maintains department inventory.
• Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Uses service recovery skills to resolve problems when they occur.
• Maintains and updates department reports.
• Dispenses sterile supplies and trays to hospital departments.
• Assembles case carts with high accuracy.
• Communicates with inventory for all supplies.
• Performs quality control functions.
• Disassembles and cleans instruments using proper technique.
• Maintains clean and organized work areas.
• Sterilizes all instruments and supplies using correct methods.
• Completes sterilization documentation.
• Prioritizes workload and performs other duties as assigned.
