Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the operating room team in the care of surgical patients. Under supervision, you will prepare and deliver instruments, maintain inventory, and ensure sterility across core services.

Qualifications

• CRCST certification within 18 months of hire.
• 18 years of age minimum.
• Prefer two years of experience in handling and sterilization of surgical instrumentation or related roles.
• Alternative experience as Central Service Technician or Patient Care Assistant in acute care within last five years.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable perioperative situations.
• Demonstrated patient-centered and customer-focused communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver medical/surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Clean, package, and process surgical equipment; maintain inventory and storage in the core.
• Operate and troubleshoot power equipment (autoclaves, washer-disinfector, ultrasonic cleaners).
• Manage multiple computer apps to track sterilization processes.
