Job summary

Bender Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for a Central Service/Sterile Processing role in a hospital environment.

The position requires maintaining instrument sterility, assembling case carts, and ensuring proper documentation and inventory control. Ideal applicants will have sterile processing experience, a pending or current CRCST or CSPDT certification, and enrollment in a surgical tech or sterile processing program.

Qualifications

• Pass a nationally accredited central service exam within 18 months from hire date.
• Maintain CRCST OR CSPDT certification.
• Sterile processing or hospital setting experience.
• Enrollment in a surgical tech or sterile processing program.

Responsibilities

• Assures the proper functioning of all equipment utilized for sterilization through ongoing monitoring of mechanical, chemical and biological indicators used during sterilization cycle.
• Prepares instrument sets and case carts; provides accurate, complete case carts for OR cases and verifies request forms.
• Assures removal of bioburden through decontamination and inspects items prior to sterilization; removes malfunctioning items from service.
• Initiates and maintains proper documentation related to expiration dates, sterilizer and load numbers on items being sterilized.
• Ensures adequate supplies and materials maintained in inventory for Central Service use and follows policy/procedure with monitoring badges and documentation.
• Prepares charge stickers, documents, and distributes sterile and non-sterile supplies as requested by departments.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of CS procedures, safety regulations and universal precautions; participates in CQI and guest relations.
• Assists in orientation of new personnel and coverage for decontamination workers.
• Incorporates performance improvement principles into job responsibilities and delivers customer service excellence.
