Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute reusable surgical instruments. You will operate steam autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, washers, and related equipment, while ensuring documentation and quality assurance across the department.

The role requires Sterile Processing certification or accredited Surgical Tech training, plus related experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program.
• If no program completion, three years of Sterile Processing experience.
• One year of Sterile Processing experience required.
• Basic computer knowledge (Windows OS).
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets following established protocols and IFU.
• Operationally check instrumentation for functionality and cleanliness.
• Disassemble and manually wash instruments per IFU and use automated washers.
• Operate and maintain sterilization and disinfection equipment.
• Maintain sterilization documentation and quality assurance records.
• Distribute sterile instrumentation to OR and Sterile Storage.
• Maintain sterile inventory and rotate stock.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with OR and other departments.
