Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC, part of the University of Southern California, seeks a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute reusable surgical instrumentation. You will operate autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, washers, and tracking systems, ensuring adherence to IFU and SPD SOPs.

The role requires at least 1 year in Sterile Processing, completion of a Sterile Processing program or equivalent, and current certification.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if not completed, 3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
• 1 year of Sterile Processing experience required.
• Basic computer knowledge (Windows OS).
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA/CBSPD) or CST/TS-C credential from CAAHEP/ABHES.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets per electronic count sheets and IFU.
• Disassemble instruments, wash, decontaminate, and load washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document quality assurance.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to OR and sterile storage, manage par levels.
• Coordinate with OR and other departments to ensure smooth workflow; train others as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment, address instrument issues, and liaise with outside companies.
• Prepare loads and operate sterilization equipment; adhere to SPD SOPs.
• Maintain proper documentation and Censitrac tracking records.
