Job summary

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if none, three years of experience.
• If no program, three years of Sterile Processing experience.
• At least 1 year in Sterile Processing.
• Basic knowledge of Windows OS and computer use.
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Sterile Processing Certification current (HSPA, CBSPD) or CST/TS-C certs.
• Fire Life Safety Training within LA City (within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets per protocols and IFU.
• Disassemble, wash, decontaminate and load washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document QA.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to OR and manage inventory.
• Train other Sterile Processing Technicians as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with departments.
• Prepare loads and verify proper sterilization of packages.
• Follow SPD policies and SOPs in all duties.
• Prepare OR carts and check for missing items.
• Record information in the Censitrac system.
• Mentor Sterile Processing Technician I when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
