Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC, a 343-bed acute care hospital, seeks a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute surgical instrumentation under supervision. You will operate autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, sonic cleaners, washers and heat sealers, ensuring items meet IFU guidelines.

Qualifications include a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program, CSPDT/CST/TS-C certification, 1 year of experience, and basic computer

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Completion of Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if not, 3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
• 1 year Sterile Processing experience.
• Basic knowledge of Windows OS and computer use.
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA/CBSPD) or CST/TS-C from CAAHEP/ABHES, renewal required.
• LA City Fire Life Safety Training; card within 30 days of hire if not present.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets following protocols and IFU.
• Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and load automated washers.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document quality checks.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to OR and maintain inventory.
• Coordinate with OR and other departments to resolve issues and train staff.
• Troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues; communicate with external vendors.
• Prepare loads and operate sterilization equipment.
• Adhere to SPD policies and SOPs.
