Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to support decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation. The role operates autoclaves and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, and requires adherence to IFU guidelines and SPD SOPs.

Under supervision, you will assemble instrument sets, discharge sterile items to OR, maintain inventory, and assist or train other technicians.

Qualifications

High School or equivalent is required.
Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program is required; if not completed, 3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
1 year of Sterile Processing experience is required.
Must have basic computer knowledge (Windows OS).
Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.

Responsibilities

Assemble and package surgical instrument sets per protocols and IFU.
Disassemble, wash, decontaminate instruments.
Operate and maintain sterilization/disinfection equipment and document QA data.
Distribute sterile instrumentation to OR and sterile storage; maintain inventory.
Train or guide Sterile Processing Technicians as needed.
Troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues with departments.
Prepare loads and ensure proper sterilization indications on packages.
