Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to join the team under the Sterile Processing Supervisor. You will decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute reusable surgical instrumentation and implants, operating autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, sonic washers, and heat sealers.

This role requires high school or equivalent, completion of a sterile processing program or equivalent experience, and current certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if not, three years of Sterile Processing experience.
• One year of Sterile Processing experience.
• Basic computer skills (Windows OS, keyboard, mouse).
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA/CBSPD or CST/CAAHEP/ABHES) with renewal before expiration.
• LA City Fire Life Safety training; obtain within 30 days if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets per electronic counts and IFU.
• Disassemble, decontaminate, and load washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document processes.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to locations; manage sterile inventory.
• Coordinate with OR and other departments; assist/training others as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues; interface with external vendors.
• Prepare loads and verify sterilization indicators; log information in system.
• Ensure compliance with SPD policies and procedures.
