Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute reusable surgical instrumentation. You will operate autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, and washers while maintaining documentation and quality assurance.

The role requires a Sterile Processing program, 1 year of experience, and competence in medical terminology and computer systems.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Completion of Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if none, three years of additional Sterile Processing experience.
• 1 year Sterile Processing experience.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS.
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets following protocols.
• Disassemble instruments, decontaminate, and load washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and maintain documentation.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to locations and maintain sterile inventory.
• Train or guide other Sterile Processing Technicians as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues with OR and other departments.
• Prepare loads and routes for OR case carts; inspects packaging.
• Adhere to SPD policies and SOPs.
• Document logging and use of tracking systems.
