Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble and sterilize reusable surgical instrumentation. You will operate autoclaves and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, maintain documentation, and ensure timely distribution to ORs and sterile storage.

The role requires a Sterile Processing Program or equivalent experience, certification, and ability to train others. USC emphasises safety, patient care, and adherence to IFU guidelines in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if no program, 3+ years in Sterile Processing accepted.
• Basic computer and Windows OS proficiency expected.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA/CBSPD) or CST/TS-C is required and renewals must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets per protocol and IFU; verify functionality and cleanliness.
• Disassemble, pre-wash, decontaminate, and load items into automated washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment; document sterilization quality and troubleshooting steps.
• Distribute sterile instrumentation to OR and storage; maintain inventory and par levels.
