Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD seeks a Central Sterile Technician under supervision to care for sterilization of instruments and supplies for the OR and nursing units. You will assist Sterile Processing Specialists with team lead duties and maintain competency across duties.

Required CRCST certification, completion of Central Sterile Processing program, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Completion of Central Sterile Processing Program; high school diploma or GED.
• Experience as a CS Technician or instrumentation experience.
• CRCST certification required.
• Physical ability to walk/stand up to 80% of time and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and respond to surgical team needs.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, disassemble, inspect, and lubricate instrumentation per hospital policy.
• Assemble and sterilize instrument sets, endoscopes, and trays per department standards.
• Prepare packaging material; label, initial and date packages.
• Operate, check, clean, and troubleshoot equipment; document sterilization records.
• Restock and pick supplies and instrument sets; maintain par levels.
• Deliver supplies and case carts to the operating room and assist with urgent needs.
• Maintain inventory and support process improvements in instrument availability.
