Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a dedicated SPD Technician to manage decontamination, assembly and packaging of surgical instruments. You will operate autoclaves, ETO and gas plasma sterilizers, maintain strict records, and support OR priorities with timely instrument delivery.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and a national SPD/Surgical Instrument Processor certification. Strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• National SPD Technician or Surgical Instrument Processor certification is required.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to break down, clean, lubricate and reassemble instruments.
• Strong organizational, communication and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, assembles and packages instruments per protocol; performs repairs as needed.
• Prepares order requests for replacement parts and extra equipment as necessary.
• Maintains clean, safe environment and follows PPE and infection control protocols.
• Identifies instruments for specialties and ensures proper function; follows repair protocols.
• Operates sterilizers and maintains logs and records related to sterilization.
