Job summary

OhioHealth's Sterile Processing department seeks a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician - Non-Certified to support the decontamination, disinfection and cleaning of general and specialty surgical instruments, endoscopes, and power equipment. The role covers preparation, packaging, quality control, and case prep in a high reliability environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Ability to read and write and perform basic math.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the decontamination, disinfection and cleaning of various reusable surgical instruments.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of sterilization processes using steam and chemical means.
• Effectively enters, modifies and searches for relevant information in the instrument tracking system.
• Incorporates infection control guidelines while transferring, storing and transporting sterile packages.
• Interacts with external customers, such as vendors and surgical reps for loaner trays and CEU’s reception.
• Follows and promotes industry standards and best practices, as supported by AAMI and AORN.
• Demonstrates strong customer service skills while meeting requests of operating rooms and external clinics; think critically and act quickly to meet patient needs.
• Aids in the education and training of fellow associates.
• As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), focus on safety, quality and efficiency in duties.
