Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure availability of cleaned, prepared, sterilized instruments for surgical procedures across operating rooms and satellite sites. The role involves supporting clinical knowledge and assisting sterile processing leadership as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; 2 years sterile processing experience preferred. Certifications such as CRCST, CSPDT, or CFER are advantageous.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred 2 years sterile processing experience or graduation from an accepted course.
• CRCST, CSPDT or CFER certifications preferred.
• Good computer and software/app knowledge for hospital systems.
• Strong communication and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties.
• Provides supplies for surgical procedures as needed.
• Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment per MIFU.
• Inspects, packages, and reassembles instruments and trays per priority.
• Performs various sterilization methods per MIFUs.
• Maintains records and adheres to SOPs and regulations.
• Adapts to patient needs, respects privacy, and communicates appropriately.
• Performs other related duties as required.
