Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure availability of cleaned, prepared, and sterilized equipment for surgical procedures. The role supports clinical knowledge sharing and staff in operative suites, with duties including instrument care, sterilization, and record keeping.

Education required is a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred 2 years of sterile processing experience or completion of a recognized course.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• KSAs: Clinical knowledge, computer proficiency, effective communication, organization, adaptability, and problem-solving.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between facilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties for surgical procedures.
• Provides supplies as needed for surgeries and disassembles/cleans critical reusable medical equipment per MIFU.
• Inspects, packages, and reassembles instruments and trays; performs high level disinfection and sterilization techniques as per MIFUs.
• Maintains records and documents in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
• Supports patient care in clinical and satellite settings and adapts communication to patient/population needs.
