Job summary

Novant Health's South Asheville Medical Plaza is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure clean, properly packaged instruments and supplies for a wide range of surgeries. This role supports patient care by maintaining aseptic technique and instrument readiness, with a focus on quality and safety.

Education: High School/GED; Experience in Sterile Reprocessing preferred; Sterile Processing Certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1 year hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department experience preferred.
• Sterile Processing Tech Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clean, properly packaged sterile instruments and supplies.
• Support multidisciplinary perioperative care and ensure instrument readiness.
• Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation, sterile/aseptic technique, and competency validation.

Schedule: PRN, as needed (no holidays, no weekends, no call or nights)

Sterile Processing experience needed

This role is responsible for providing clean, properly packaged, sterile instruments and supplies to meet individual customer needs.

In this setting, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through critical points in their surgical experience, ensuring clinical excellence and continuity of care.

What You’ll Do

• Education: High School or GED, required.
• Experience: One year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Sterile Processing Tech Certification, preferred.
• Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays. Ability to learn and understand medical terminology.
