Job summary

Novant Health in Kernersville, NC, is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, inspection, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment. You will support infection prevention and the surgical team by ensuring tools are clean, sterile, and ready for use.

This Mid Shift, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, full-time role requires a High School diploma or GED, and certification in sterile processing; one year of hospital reprocessing experience is

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department preferred.
• Sterile Reprocessing Tech certification required (CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT).
• Ability to complete skills validation and competency testing; knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique; ability to read and comprehend instructions to assemble instrument sets; learn medical terminology; maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Ensure tools are properly cleaned, sterilized and ready for safe patient use.
• Support infection prevention and the surgical team with properly processed instruments.

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment. Working behind the scenes, this role ensures all tools are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for safe patient use—playing a critical part in infection prevention and surgical team support.

What You'll Do

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: One year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Sterile Reprocessing Tech certification, required. CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT, required.
• Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays. Ability to learn and understand medical terminology. Maintains Sterile Processing Technician certification.
