Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician at Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville, NC. Certification CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT is required, with 1 year of hospital Sterile Reprocessing experience preferred.

The role involves cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing medical instruments for use in patient care across five operating rooms. Day shift, 40 hours weekly, on-call every third weekend.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: One year in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Sterile Reprocessing Tech certification, CBSPD/CRCST/CSPDT required.
• Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique; ability to read instructions and assemble instrument sets.

Responsibilities

• Ensures instruments and equipment are available and ready for use.
• Maintains equipment and supports patient care with timely instrument availability.

Department: Sterile Processing

Position Type: Full Time - 40 hours per week

Schedule: Day Shift, 8am-4:30p - Monday through Friday

On-Call: Every 3rd weekend

Department Information: Our Sterile Processing Department is a critical unit responsible for the lifecycle management of medical instruments and equipment for 5 operating rooms.

What You’ll Do

• Cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing equipment
• Ensures the instruments and equipment are available
• Ensures all equipment is properly maintained, and ready for immediate use in order to support patient care.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: One year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Sterile Reprocessing Tech certification, required. CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT, required.
• Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays. Ability to learn and understand medical terminology. Maintains Sterile Processing Technician certification.
