Job summary

Novant Health’s South Asheville Medical Plaza is seeking an ASC Surgical Technologist to join the operating suite. This on‑site, PRN role crosses into cross‑training across primary areas, supporting turnover and day‑to‑day ASC operations.

You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team on cases ranging from Ophthalmology to Plastics, with no weekends, holidays, or on‑call nights. Education and credentials include a High School Diploma or GED, graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or 68D training required.
• Current Surgical Tech certification preferred; state rules may require certification.

• Support day‑to‑day ASC operations within the operating suite.

Current Surgical Tech experience needed

The ASC Surgical Technologist is expected to work in an operating suite for the center. The ASC Surgical Technologist is able to function as a team member in an ASC environment through cross‑training to other primary areas, assisting with turnover, and all other aspects of day‑to‑day ASC operations.

In this setting, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through critical points in their surgical experience, ensuring clinical excellence and continuity of care.

What You’ll Do

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.
• Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech certification, preferred. Current Surgical Tech Certification - based on state specific regulations (South Carolina Region Only), required.
• Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department‑specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
• Additional Skills (preferred): One to two years of experience in sterile processing or equivalent training if assigned solely to sterile processing.
