Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Marietta, GA is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a part-time weekend shift (Sat & Sun 6a-6p). You will process and sterilize surgical instruments, maintain sterilization equipment, and collaborate with OR staff to support timely turnover of trays and supplies.

The role demands strict adherence to hospital policies, attention to detail, and the ability to follow AAMI and AORN guidelines. Prior sterile processing experience plus CRCST certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to retain knowledge of identification and handling requirements of surgical instruments, medical supplies and equipment.
• Must be able to understand, speak, and write English fluently to communicate with the nursing, technical and medical staff.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, receives, cleans, disinfects, and decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Prioritizes workload according to the needs of the operating room and hospital units.
• Receives dirty instruments and scans barcode and equipment from the operating room.
• Operates washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner to mechanically decontaminate instruments and equipment.
• Inspects surgical instruments and medical equipment for cleanliness and proper working order.
• Monitors sterilizers and equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
