Job summary

You will process incoming supplies, clean, decontaminate, sterilize, wrap and inventory instruments, and coordinate with OR and other units. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand, speak, and write English fluently to communicate with staff.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Must retain knowledge of instrument identifications and handling requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collects, receives, cleans, disinfects, and decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Operates washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner to mechanically decontaminate instruments and equipment.
• Inspects instruments and equipment for cleanliness and proper working order; prepares packs and wraps or containers instruments and equipment.
• Monitors sterilizers and documents results; selects appropriate chemical indicators and wrapping methods; reports malfunctions to supervisor.
