Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the operating room team. Under supervision, you will prepare and deliver medical supplies, clean and package instruments, and manage inventory in the core.

The role requires CRCST certification within 18 months of hire, 18+ years of age, and about two years of relevant sterilization experience. You will operate autoclaves and tracking software to help ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• CRCST certification within 18 months of hire.
• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Prefer two years of experience in handling and sterilization of surgical/medical instrumentation, or vocational certificate as Central Service Technician or Patient Care Assistant within the last two years.
• Alternatively, at least two years of experience as a Central Service Technician or Patient Care Assistant in an acute care setting within the last five years.
• Prefer knowledge of medical terminology.
• Adapts to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting.
• Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic, and articulate manner.
• Frequent lifting/carrying of 25 pounds or more, with occasional work above shoulder level.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver medical/surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Clean, package, and process surgical equipment and instrumentation, as well as maintain inventory and storage of supplies in the core.
• Manage multiple computer applications to assist with sterilization tracking and processes.
• Operate and troubleshoot power equipment to process instruments (i.e. autoclaves, washer disinfector, ultrasonic cleaners).
