Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Defiance, OH is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Non-Certified to join our hospital team. Under general supervision, you will inspect, clean, assemble, test, and process patient care equipment according to policy and manufacturers' instructions.

The role emphasizes adherence to AAMI, JCAHO, CDC, and state practice standards, with duties including decontamination, inventory, quality control, sterilization, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CRCST, HSPA, or CBSPD certification required within 2 years after hire.
• Recent experience in a surgical setting preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
• HIPAA and infection control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and manual cleaning of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment.
• Applies knowledge of detergents and chemical disinfectants; adheres to standard precautions.
• Inventory, stocks, delivers supplies and maintains proper inventory levels.
• Performs quality control and uses information systems for instrument tracking and scheduling.
• Operates sterilizers and ensures aseptic package assembly and monitoring.
• Documents activities and reports variances affecting sterility and safety.
