Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Franklin, VA is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. The role inspects, cleans, assembles, tests, and processes patient care equipment per policy and instrument manufacturer instructions, supporting sterile processing workflows in a surgical setting.

Essential duties include decontamination, inventory management, quality control documentation, and operation of sterilizers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certification: CRCST, HSPA or CBSPD is required.
• Recent experience in a surgical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and processing of surgical instrumentation according to manufacturer’s instructions.
• Maintains inventory, stocks, and delivers supplies per facility guidelines.
• Documents quality control and instrument tracking; ensures infection control standards.
• Operates sterilizers and verifies sterilization using chemical/biological indicators.
• Identifies surgical instrumentation by specialty and ensures proper assembly/disassembly per instructions.
• Participates in orientation and ongoing competency verification.
